State licensing of massage therapy has increased in the last 20 years, mostly due to its gaining popularity and the availability of the NCBTMB national certification examination. There is a new exam that is gaining acceptance known as the MBLEx and more and more states are adopting it as the exam of choice for their licensing requirements.
